Meet Owen Coyle
I’m Owen Coyle, an 86 year young “Seasoned Citizen” living in Escondido California. As of April 1, 2022 I’ll be starting my 21st year as a Reverse Mortgage Specialist. I have no desire to retire, so as long as my health remains good, I’m planning on helping senior homeowners obtain Reverse Mortgages at least until I’m 90, and hopefully a few years beyond. I absolutely have a passion for working with senior homeowners, improving their “Quality of Life” and giving them “Peace of Mind” by setting up Reverse Mortgages for them.

How many of your neighbors have done a reverse mortgage? Here are some interesting facts about reverse mortgages and the housing market in the greater Santee area.
Santee Reverse Mortgage Facts
In 2021, the typical home in Santee costs approximately $719,795. Many homeowners in the area may choose to apply for a private jumbo reverse mortgage for properties above $970,800. Private reverse mortgages provide significantly more proceeds for eligible homeowners with higher-valued properties.
$970,800 is the current maximum lending limit for FHA-insured reverse mortgages in 2022. This means with a federally-insured reverse mortgage in greater Santee (and across the nation), the first $970,800 of their home value is considered in the calculation of the potential maximum reverse mortgage loan benefit.
In general, reverse mortgages calculate the maximum available loan benefit (before fees, costs, and lien payoffs) for qualified borrowers based on the home’s appraised value, the age of the youngest borrower, or named non-borrowing spouse, and the current/starting effective interest rate.
About Santee, California
Santee is a small suburban city in San Diego County located 18 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, connected to the coastline via State Route 52.
Santee is named after Milton Santee, a San Diego County businessman and rancher. The area’s early history can be seen in the Old Mission Dam which was commissioned in 1779, by Father Junipero Serra. Today the dam is part of Mission Trails Regional Park. Years later the Spanish gave land grants to its soldiers and sold portions to American settlers, among them George A. Cowles (Kohls). The first town was aptly named Cowlestown. In 1887, three years after the death of her husband, Jennie Cowles married realtor and surveyor Milton Santee. In 1893 the community changed the town’s name to Santee. The city of Santee was officially incorporated in 1980.
Today Santee is home to commercial centers, a business district, and a large residential community. The population census of April 2020 reports a population of 60,037 residents.
